Greetings!
The Chamber has had an exciting year and soon you will hear all about it when our first ever, town wide newsletter arrives in your mailbox. The turnout for advertisers was at an all time high so this edition will prove to be the first of its kind.
Watch your mailboxes in early May for this newsletter with lots of color!
Thanks to those who helped support it by taking advantage of this unique advertising opportunity.

President's Corner
The old saying for this season is, "April showers bring May flowers." But I think the saying should be amended to, "April showers bring green fairways and faster greens!" Our upcoming Annual Golf Tournament is only about six weeks away on Thursday, May 26th, at the Simsbury Farms Golf Course. Get your foursome together. Sign up to advertise your business on a tee sign and become a sponsor. I can think of no other way than our great annual tournament to get your company name in the front of well over 100 golfers.
Coming up in May is also our Annual Meeting on Thursday May 5th at LaTrattoria from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. I hope you will join us for a great lunch, celebration of our 2011 award nominees, and election of new officers and directors. The Nominating Committee has been hard at work to provide an excellent slate for your approval.
Please join me at our next Business After Hours at Four Paws Only on April 13th at 5:30 PM.

Free Cone Day to Support Canton's Bravest
April 12, 2011: 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm Ben & Jerry's of Canton will be celebrating Free Cone Day to thank their customers for their patronage, and to raise money and awareness in support of the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS Department. Members of the Volunteer Fire and EMS department will be scooping ice cream and providing information about opportunities in the fire service. Bring the kids for fire truck and ambulance tours.
Ben & Jerry's co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield first scooped up free ice cream all day back in 1979 as a way to thank the community for supporting them in their first year. Now it's an annual tradition at many of their scoop shops around the world. It's your chance to try any of our flavors for free and support a great cause at Ben & Jerry's in Canton. Customers will be encouraged to make a donation on Free Cone Day to support the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS Department.
"This year we're asking that everyone bring their loose change to help us "Fill the Fireman's Boot" to support the men and women who put their lives on the line for us everyday. Come out and show your support for Canton's Volunteer Fire & EMS Department and get a Free Cone," said Phillip Killoran, Ben & Jerry's franchise owner. In 2010, Ben & Jerry's of Canton distributed nearly 4,200 servings of their super premium ice cream and raised over $2,000 during Free Cone Day - 100% of all donations support the purchase of training and equipment for fire and EMS volunteers. Since 2005, this annual event has helped to raise over $10,000 in donations for the Department.
Ben & Jerry's is located in The Shoppes at Farmington Valley, Rte 44 in Canton, just over the Avon/Simsbury line. |
